Durango Real Estate Closing CostsAs reported in The Durango Herald, the New York-based financial technology company SmartAsset released its second annual report that analyzes closing costs as a percentage of median home value in counties in across the U.S.

The report’s statistics are based off of buyers who put down 20% on a home and purchased a median priced home with a regular 30-year fixed mortgage rate. In addition, the SmartAsset study also included mortgage taxes, transfer taxes, and fixed and variable closing costs, and according to the results, La Plata County is ranked sixth out of Colorado’s 64 counties in terms having the lowest closing costs. 

Only Douglas, Boulder, Routt, Ouray, and San Miguel counties outrank La Plata, however, our county did move up in the rankings

Durango Real Estate With 2015 now in the books, the 4th quarter numbers are in from last year, so we thought we’d share some of the final market stats that topped off what was a great year for the Durango real estate market.

According to the Durango Area Association of Realtors, country homes in Durango were the top selling properties between October and the end of December last year, tallying 77 total sales over that three month timeframe. Condos and townhouses in Durango were also hot in the 4th Quarter of 2015, with 47 condos/townhouses sold for an average price of $311,329.

In town land sales were also up significantly over the last part of the year with the 4th quarter seeing 5 in town land sales alone, up from zero sales over the entire 3rd quarter.

Durango Homes For Sale with a PoolOften times when you think of Durango CO real estate, or any place in Colorado for that matter, images of snow, mountains, and cozy log cabins might first come to mind. But when all the snow melts away and the summer season here in beautiful southern Colorado is in full swing, there’s nothing more refreshing than taking a dip in your very own private pool, which although rare, can sometimes be found during an on-going home search.
