Things to Do This Fall in Durango The start of fall is right around the corner but already the community of Durango is getting into the spirit of the season with plenty of fun events, festivals and celebrations on the calendar. So if you're looking for something to do this autumn season and want to get out and about before all the snow announces its presence, here's a quick look at what's going on around Durango over the next couple months.

Durango Autumn Arts Festival- September 17-18

The annual Durango Autumn Arts Festival kicks off September 17 and 18, bringing dozens of artists and craftsmen to the region. The weekend also features live music and entertainment, all in the historic downtown area.

Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering- September 28-October 2

Meanwhile, the end of the month ushers in cowboys and poetry! More specifically, it’s the Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering. Events include the two-hour Cowboy Poet Trailride, with entertainment around the campfire, as well as planned events at local galleries and the Cowboy Parade down Main.

Durango Heritage Celebration- October 6-9

A few days later residents will gather to celebrate the town’s history with the Durango Heritage Celebration. Old West attire is encouraged to dance and dine, plus take in some old westerns filmed in the Durango area. Guests can then hop aboard the Heritage Train for a round-trip ride to Silverton and back again.
